Claudio Otelli was born in Austria. He graduated from the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna, where he later joined the Vienna State Opera. He studied under Maestro Aldo Danieli and now collaborates artistically with Prof. Heidrun Franz-Vetter.

He has performed in numerous venues across Europe. In Munich, he was part of the Bavarian State Opera, singing in "Orest" and "Elektra." In Dresden, he graced the stage of the Semperoper, appearing in "Mandryka" and "Arabella." Frankfurt's Schischkow Theater saw him in "From the House of Dead," "Don Giovanni," "Tonio" from "I Pagliacci," and "Scarpia" from "Tosca." He also performed "Ryuji" in "Gogo No Eko - Das verratene Meer."

In Milan, the Teatro alla Scala featured him in "Gunther" from "Götterdammerung." In Toulouse, he sang "Gunther," and in Naples, the Teatro San Carlo hosted him in "Bluebeard's Castle" and "Bluebeard." In Stuttgart, he took on roles in "Graf Tamara" from "Die Gezeichnete," "Klingsor" from "Parsifal," and "Wozzek" from "Berg's Wozzek." In Berlin, the Komische Opera welcomed him as Dr. Bloom in "Neuwirth's 'American Lulu,'" and in Bremen, he performed "Hans Sachs" from "Die Meister Singer von Nurnberg," "Rigoletto," "Wozzek," and "Amfortas" from "Parsifal."

His guest performances extended to New York, where he sang Stolcius in "B.A. Zimmerman's 'Die Soldaten'" at Lincoln Center. He also participated in the Bregen Festival as Scarpia, the Ruhr Triennale Festival as Stoltz, and the Santa Fe Opera as Johannan in "Salome." In Tokyo, he appeared at the New National Theater as Dr. Schön in "Lulu," and at the Savonlinna Opera Festival as Schischkow in "From the House of Death" and Rigoletto. In Lucerne, he sang Nekotzar in "Ligeti's Le Grande Macabre" and Falstaff in "Falstaff." He also performed Il Conte di Luna in "Il Trovatore" at the Finnish National Opera.

He has collaborated with acclaimed directors such as Martin Kusey, Nicolas Briegger, David Pointney, Calisto Bieito, Benedict von Peter, Marco Stroman, Paul-Georg Dietrich, and Joan Antoine Rechi. Recently, under Patrick Fourniller's baton, he made his debut as Conte di Luna in "Il trovatore" at the Finnish National Opera, receiving rave reviews from both audiences and critics.

His engagements include Sharpless in "Butterfly" at the Savonlinna Festival, Don Pisarro in "Fidelio," and Dr. Schön in "Lulu" at the Bremen Opera. He also participated in "Die Wellgesinne" by Hektor Parra with the Vlaander Opera Ballet.

The 2021-2022 season was particularly successful. He sang Falstaff at the Staats Theater Nürnberg, Don Pisarro and Schischkow at the Wiesbadener Staats Theater, and Hans Sachs at the Linz Landestheater.

This year, he will make his debut as Alberic in a concert version of Wagner's "Rheingold" at the Teatro Comunale di Bologna, receiving widespread acclaim. He will also perform as the Wanderer in "Siegfried" at the Theater Bern and as the Flying Dutchman at the Nationaltheater in Weimar.

Next year, he is scheduled to guest star as Falcon at the Tirol Landestheater Innsbruck, as the Flying Dutchman at the Wiesbadener Staats Theater, and as Scarpia at the Bonn Opera.

His future plans include portraying Alberic in "Siegfried" and "Götterdammerung" at the Bologna Communal Theater, as well as the lead role in "Rigoletto" at the Aalto Theatre Essen.
