Overview

A chamber music concert by the duo of violinist Jorge Caldelari and pianist Javier Mas will take place on Saturday, May 23, at 6:00 p.m. in the Astor Piazzolla Hall of the Provincial Arts Center Teatro Argentino.

Violinist Jorge Caldelari and pianist, conductor, and trumpeter Javier Mas have extensive and distinguished careers, both in Argentina and abroad. Since 2016, they have formed a chamber duo that has performed concerts and masterclasses at the Kirchner Cultural Centre/Palacio Libertad, the Usina del Arte, the Fernández Blanco Museum, the Caminos del Vino Festival in Mendoza, and in venues in Salta, Neuquén, Bariloche, and Villa La Angostura. In October 2022, they presented their album "Panoramas" in the Golden Hall of the Teatro Colón, which includes works by Argentine composers such as Héctor Panizza (the first recording of the monumental Sonata for Violin and Piano by the renowned creator of the opera "Aurora"), Gilardo Gilardi, Juan José Castro, and Caldelari himself (the world premiere of his Sonata Influenzata).

Bold, modern, and artistically vibrant, Teatro Argentino stands as one of Latin America’s great performing arts venues, where opera, ballet, and music come alive on an impressive scale.

The Teatro Argentino in La Plata is one of Argentina’s leading cultural institutions and an important center for opera, ballet, and symphonic music in South America. Located in the capital of Buenos Aires Province, the theatre is renowned for its ambitious productions, artistic excellence, and strong connection to both classical tradition and contemporary creativity.

Originally inaugurated in the late 19th century and later rebuilt in a striking modern architectural style, the theatre today combines monumental design with advanced stage technology. Its spacious auditoriums, excellent acoustics, and large-scale production capabilities allow for visually and musically impressive performances that attract audiences from across Argentina and beyond.

Teatro Argentino is home to its own orchestra, chorus, and ballet company, presenting a rich season of opera classics, contemporary works, ballet productions, concerts, and special cultural events. The theatre has staged masterpieces by Verdi, Puccini, Wagner, Tchaikovsky, and many other composers, while also supporting Argentine artists and new productions.
