China Film Symphony Orchestra presents BBC Earth: Planet Earth III in concert – breathtaking 4K footage from David Attenborough’s nature series on the big screen, with Hans Zimmer’s score played live.
Planet Earth III, the BBC’s 2023 series narrated by Sir David Attenborough, was filmed in 43 countries on six continents – from the deep ocean beneath the Antarctic ice to the Sahara and the rainforest canopy. Its score is by Hans Zimmer, a two-time Academy Award winner, with Jacob Shea and Sara Barone.
On stage, more than 60 musicians of the China Film Symphony Orchestra – founded in 1949 and one of the first national orchestras of the People’s Republic – play the music live under conductor Xiao Chao. Guest host Huang Ying, a theatre director who teaches at the Beijing Film Academy, presents a Chinese adaptation of Attenborough’s narration.
