Programme
Overview

With works by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Frédéric Chopin, Franz Liszt, Sergei Rachmaninoff and others.

Keyboard lioness and grand piano striker: The synonyms that the international trade press finds for Khatia Buniatishvili paint haunting images of the passionate and sensual Georgian pianist, whose interpretations are always one thing: incomparable - unique!

The Parisian-elect, who only went on maternity leave in March with a brilliant piano recital in the Isarphilharmonie and will return to the Munich podium in December, loves extremes, the extraordinary, the unheard of. Their lyrical, bright and colorful tone, their seemingly limitless dynamic scale from the barely perceptible piano pianissimo to the thunderous outburst that breaks boundaries, fascinates, polarizes and makes you addicted to ever further sound eruptions...

Piano enthusiasts can look forward to an exciting program with probably the most capricious and idiosyncratic pianist of today, in which Khatia Buniatishvili presents all facets of her art: the classically pure tone and the deep romantic feelings of the great piano literature. Its creators must - it often seems - have had an interpreter like Khatia Buniatishvili in their ears when they wrote down their emotional sound images and passionate excesses for the “blackest of all instruments” - according to the pianist.

Venue Info

Isar Philharmonic - Munich
Location   Hans-Preißinger-Straße 8

Isarphilharmonie is Munich’s most modern concert hall.

Since the Isarphilharmonie opened in October 2021, it has quickly gained a reputation for its special atmosphere and excellent sound. The list of orchestras performing here reads like a veritable Who’s Who, headed by the Munich Philharmonic, the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra and the Munich Chamber Orchestra. High profile concert agencies see the auditorium as the perfect place for guest appearances by national and international orchestras and it also hosts jazz productions and large-scale popular music concerts of all genres.

But the Isarphilharmonie also has another string to its bow: it can be blacked out, making it the ideal venue for film screenings – with or without orchestral accompaniment.

The building that houses the Isarphilharmonie is a steel structure with an internal volume of nearly 60,000 cubic metres. The concert hall itself can accommodate almost 2000 guests and is made from prefabricated solid wood elements. The walls are clad with black-stained softwood panels, while the stage and floors are made from light cedar wood for a striking contrast.
