About

The Puccini Festival 2026 invites you into the very landscape that inspired Giacomo Puccini himself — a place where music seems to rise naturally from the still waters of Lake Massaciuccoli and drift into the warm Tuscan night. From July 17 to September 5, 2026, Torre del Lago becomes a living stage of Italian opera, offering an experience that is both intimate and grand, rooted in tradition yet alive with contemporary vision.

At the heart of the festival lies a powerful operatic program, dedicated entirely to Puccini’s immortal masterpieces. The 2026 season is crowned by a new production of Turandot, marking the 100th anniversary of its premiere — a visually striking interpretation that blends theatrical imagination with the emotional force of Puccini’s music. Alongside it, audiences will rediscover beloved works such as Tosca, La Bohème, Madama Butterfly, and the rarely staged La fanciulla del West, each presented in evocative open-air productions at the Gran Teatro all’aperto.

The festival’s concert and gala program adds further brilliance to the experience. Among the highlights are two exceptional evenings featuring global opera icons: a special concert with Jonas Kaufmann and soprano Maria Agresta, as well as a grand gala led by Plácido Domingo alongside María José Siri — evenings that celebrate the enduring beauty of the Puccini repertoire with rare emotional intensity.

What truly elevates the 2026 edition is its remarkable constellation of world-class performers. The stage welcomes leading voices of today’s opera scene, including Anna Pirozzi, Roberto Alagna, Sonya Yoncheva, Yusif Eyvazov, and Vittorio Grigolo — artists whose voices define the contemporary operatic landscape.
Adding a surprising artistic dimension, the opening production of Turandot is directed by Jackie Chan, bringing a unique visual language and cross-cultural perspective to the festival.

The Puccini Festival is more than a sequence of performances — it is an atmosphere shaped by nature, memory, and music. As twilight settles over the lake and the stage lights awaken, every aria feels closer, every silence deeper, and every evening unforgettable.

This is not just opera — it is Puccini’s world, experienced where it was born.

It was here that his most famous operas were created - Tosca (1900), Madame Butterfly (1904), Girl from the West (1910), Swallow (1917) and Triptych (1918). Near the villa The maestro, which is open to visitors in the summer, has an open amphitheater with 3370 seats and a closed auditorium with 495 seats on the lake.
