Luosto Lapland
With only 200 inhabitants, Luosto is one of Finland’s hidden gems. It’s a peaceful and authentic retreat for anyone looking for a true Lapland experience. Snow, snow and more snow is what you can expect to see during Luosto’s winter season and the untouched scenery is something special to behold.
Situated at the heart of Finland’s Pyhä-Luosto National Park, Luosto is easy to reach by train, plane, bus or car. Other popular cities such as Rovaniemi and Sodankylä, are not too far so it is definitely worth stopping at Luosto to broaden your experience. There are lots of activities to do in Luosto from snowshoeing tours to ice climbing and snowmobile adventures. You’ll get to enjoy the silence of the vast stretch of uninhabited land and the peace and quiet of the snowy surroundings. Luosto is also home to Lampivaara amethyst mine where you can try and find your very own amethyst. Being a very small village with almost no light pollution, here the Northern Lights displays can be seen in their true glory.
