Overview

A late-night celebration with Beijing Wind Orchestra and conductor Li Bowei, bringing together Viennese dances, operetta overtures and Chinese melody.

The programme moves from the theatrical sparkle of Strauss to the broad melodies of Tchaikovsky and Wang Hesheng. Wind instruments give these familiar dances and orchestral scenes a bright, expansive sound. The evening closes with the sweeping waltz rhythms of The Blue Danube.

  • Dmitri Shostakovich – Golden Years Waltz
  • Pyotr Tchaikovsky – Waltz of the Flowers from The Nutcracker
