There's a reason many consider Iggy Pop the godfather of punk: every single punk band past and present has borrowed things from him and his late 60s/early 70s band, the Stooges. .
Recognized as one of the most dynamic artists of all time, Iggy Pop has built a legendary career filled with critical acclaim.
Many argue that Iggy's concert should be on their bucket list and his fans of all generations are the first to witness it.
Reminds of 1969's self-titled debut The Stooges, 1970's Funhouse and 1973's Raw Power, while some of Iggy's iconic solo albums, including Lust For Life, The Idiot, New Values, Zombie Birdhouse, Blah Blah Blah, Brick by Brick , American Caesar, Skull Ring, Preliminaires and Apres, as well as numerous featurings and collaborations, have cemented his status as a true musical innovator. His first two solo albums were co-written and produced by David Bowie - a collaboration widely discussed as one of the most epic musical alliances.
In 2010 Iggy and the Stooges were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and in 2020 received the GRAMMY Lifetime Achievement Award. In April 2022 Iggy also received one of the most prestigious European awards: the Polar Music Prize.
Iggy made a welcome solo comeback in 2016 with the album Post Pop Depression, the result of an acclaimed collaboration between Iggy and co-creator Josh Homme. The 'One night, one time only' tour resulted in an incredibly powerful DVD LIVE at Royal Albert Hall (Best Live Music Film Award at UK MVA 2016). Post Pop Depression was nominated for a Grammy Award in the "Best Alternative Music Album" category. In 2019 Iggy releases a contemplative and reflective album, FREE, which explores more jazz-oriented genres.
“This is an album where other artists speak for me, but I lend my voice ,” Iggy says of his collaboration with New York artist Leron Thomas and Sarah Lipstate.
In January 2023 Iggy introduced to the world "EVERY LOSER", the first album released through the recently announced partnership between Atlantic Records and Gold Tooth Records, the new label founded by GRAMMY Award-winning and multi-platinum producer Andrew Watt. The album consists of 11 songs and features a host of modern rock icons, including Iggy Pop & The Losers, with Andrew Watt, Duff McKagan and Chad Smith and contributions from Eric Avery, Travis Barker, Chris Chaney, Stone Gossard , Taylor Hawkins, Josh Klinghoffer and Dave Navarro.
Pop continues to host his popular weekly radio show 'Iggy Confidential' on BBC 6 Music and - with what appears to be his mission since the very beginning of his career - introduce new music to open-minded listeners.
